# Presets

CHAKRABOOST ships with no factory presets. Every preset in the **PRESET** menu is one you saved, synced from another of your machines, or downloaded from the community library.

## What a preset stores

A preset stores every parameter, including the automation-only ones (crossover points, Mod Source, Sync Rate and Safety Mode), along with the sidechain routings and pan locks. It does not store the speaker layout, so loading a preset changes the sound without moving your speakers. The layout is saved with the DAW session instead. A preset also leaves out the instance's NOMN seed, so two instances loaded with the same preset still move independently; see [Modulation](/chakraboost/interface/modulation).

## Saving

1. Choose **Save preset...** at the bottom of the **PRESET** menu.
2. Type a name in the **Save Preset** dialog. It starts with the name of the last preset you loaded.
3. Click **Save**.

If a preset with that name already exists, CHAKRABOOST asks before replacing it: **Update "*name*"? This replaces the saved version.** Choose **Update** to replace it, **Save as new** to keep both (the new one gets a number after its name, as in *Name 2*), or **Cancel**, which is also what pressing Return does. Nothing is overwritten without this confirmation.

Preset names are made safe for use as file names, and cannot be empty or begin with a full stop.

## Loading

Choosing a preset from the menu loads it straight away. The menu lists presets in the top-level folder first, then a heading for each subfolder, sorted by name.

Presets are `.chakrapreset` files in `~/Library/Chakraboost/Presets/` on macOS and `%APPDATA%\Chakraboost\Presets\` on Windows. Subfolders you create there appear as headings in the menu, and presets downloaded from the community library arrive in `Community/` subfolders named after the person who shared them.

## Renaming and deleting

While a saved preset is loaded, the **PRESET** menu also offers **Rename preset...** and **Delete preset...**, which act on that preset.

* **Rename preset...** opens the **Rename Preset** dialog with the current name filled in. Type the new name and click **Rename**. If another preset in the same folder already has that name, CHAKRABOOST refuses with **A preset named "*name*" already exists.** A rename that only changes capital letters is allowed.
* **Delete preset...** asks **Move "*name*" to the Trash?** Click **Delete** to move the file to the Trash (the Recycle Bin on Windows), or **Cancel**, which is also what pressing Return does. The sound stays loaded and can be saved again under another name.

## Device sync with a nomn.jp account

Signing in with a nomn.jp account keeps your presets in step across your machines. The **COMMUNITY PRESET SHARING / DEVICE SYNC** row in the footer shows **Sign in to NOMN to sync presets and share them** while you are signed out.

1. Click the row and choose **Sign in to NOMN...**.
2. Enter your nomn.jp email and password and click **Sign in**. (No account yet? The panel links to nomn.jp/account.)

Your password is not stored. CHAKRABOOST keeps a device sign-in token, which can be revoked from your nomn.jp account, and the sign-in is shared by every NOMN plugin on the machine.

Once signed in, the row shows your email and the last sync result. Presets sync when the plugin window opens, after every save, rename or delete, and when you choose **Sync now** from the row's menu. Sync resolves changes this way:

* Local presets are never deleted outright. When a preset is replaced or deleted on another machine, the local copy moves to `.presetcloud-trash/` inside the preset folder, in a subfolder named by date.
* When the same preset changed on two machines, both versions are kept, the incoming one named after its machine, as in *Name (Studio Mac)*.
* Changes made offline are queued and sent on the next sync.

Presets larger than 256 KB are not synced. A preset saved by a newer version of CHAKRABOOST is not synced into an older one, and the sync status names the version it needs.

**Sign out of NOMN** in the same menu stops syncing on this machine.

## Sharing to the community library

Sharing needs a public handle, which you set on your nomn.jp account page.

1. Load or set up the sound you want to share, then choose **Share preset...** from the footer row's menu. It shares the current settings under the name shown in the preset menu.
2. Check the **Name**, choose a **Category** and, optionally, write up to 280 characters in **About**.
3. Tick the licence box. Shared presets are released under CC0 1.0 (public domain), so anyone may use, change and redistribute them without credit.
4. Click **Share**. The panel confirms with **Shared. It is now in Browse community.**

## Browsing the community library

**Browse community...** opens the CHAKRABOOST community library, listing the newest presets first. Search by name, handle or description, and sort by **Newest** or **Most downloaded**. Each entry shows its name, download count, the sharer's handle, the CHAKRABOOST version it was made with, its category and its description. Click **Get** (or double-click the entry) to download it into `Community/<handle>/` in your preset folder, where it behaves like any other preset and syncs to your other machines.

## Unpublishing a shared preset

Once you have shared presets, the footer row's menu holds an **Unpublish** submenu below **Browse community...**, listing every preset you have shared, by name. Choose one, and CHAKRABOOST asks **Remove "*name*" from the community list? Copies other people already downloaded stay with them.** Click **Unpublish** to remove it, or **Cancel**, which is also what pressing Return does. The preset stays in your own preset folder.
