# Installation

> How to install FOAM on macOS

## Download

Download the latest FOAM DMG from [nomn.ai](https://nomn.ai).

## Install

1. Open the DMG file
2. Drag **FOAM.app** to your Applications folder (for standalone use)
3. For plugin use, copy the appropriate format to your plugins folder:
   * **FOAM.vst3** to `/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/`
   * **FOAM.component** to `/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/`

The DMG includes convenience shortcuts to these folders.

## Verify Installation

* **Standalone**: Open FOAM from your Applications folder
* **Plugin**: Rescan plugins in your DAW. FOAM appears under manufacturer "NOMN"

## Licensing

FOAM runs in demo mode for 15 minutes per session. To unlock:

1. Purchase a license at [nomn.ai](https://nomn.ai)
2. Your license key appears in your account dashboard
3. In FOAM, click **Activate** and enter your license key (format: `FOAM-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX`)

License keys work offline after initial activation. See [Licensing](/reference/licensing) for details.
