# RESERVOIR for iPad

# RESERVOIR for iPad

RESERVOIR for iPad runs the same generator and sound engine as the Mac, as an app and as an AUv3 in an iPad host. A preset made on one plays on the other.

## Differences from the Mac

* **Up to 24 parts.** The layer strip shows 12 at a time; page to **PARTS 13-24** for the rest. Parts above 24 in a Mac preset stay silent on iPad.
* **Stereo.** There is no speaker layout and no SPACE tab. **STEREO FIELD** on the MIX page places each part between left and right.
* **One preset folder.** The app and the AUv3 share their presets.

## Pages

Eight pages, chosen along the edge of the screen:

| Page | What is on it |
| - | - |
| **PLAY** | The visualizer, the main macro controls, and **RESEED ESN**, which gives the ECHO STATE NETWORK a new starting point. |
| **DENSITY** | Pattern, **Layer Interaction**, **Density Shape**, note density and length, and the PERFORATION method and amount. |
| **PITCH** | Scale, root, span and selection pattern. |
| **PHRASE** | Articulation, phrase length, feel, velocity and dynamics. |
| **INSTR** | Each part's instrument, timbre with **MORPH** and knob destinations, envelope, reverb with a **REVERB TAIL** block, and delay with **DRIVE**. |
| **CODEX** | Explanations of the active patterns. |
| **MIX** | The layer strip with levels, **STEREO FIELD** (drag a part left or right), the output section and the compressor bands. |
| **REGISTER** | Each part's register window, shown as octave bands. |

**PRESETS** opens the preset list. **SETTINGS** holds audio and MIDI settings, **RECORD STEMS**, and **SIGN IN TO NOMN** for preset sync. In an iPad host, where the host handles audio, the button reads **MIDI** and the sheet holds the **MIDI OUTPUT** settings.

## Recording stems

Turn on **RECORD STEMS** in **SETTINGS**, play, and turn it off. Each part is written in stereo. See [Record Stems](https://docs.nomn.jp/reservoir/features/stems.md) for the files a take contains.
